The people inside the Washington DC beltway have a very unrealistic view of Russia, the Russian state, and its leader. 

In cooperation with the military-industrial complex, the people in the Washington DC beltway believe much of what they say and plan, which is extremely dangerous. They are filled with so much hatred against Russia and its government that they decided to start World War III in Ukraine. At the same time, they are incapable of seeing reality after all this blood sheet, and the successive defeats of the Ukrainian people.

They don’t understand that what they want to do will not happen, and that at the end of the war they are going to face major challenges and losses. This is called “Ideological Blindness.”
