Why is time limited to forward motion? A toast never goes unburned, and an egg never gets uncracked. We never stop questioning the path we take in life. However, nothing in the principles of physics dictates that time can only move forward. Since space allows us to go in any direction, why not time? Well, time might just be an illusion and artifact of our consciousness. That, however, defies logic as the universe existed before any human being was born.
Thus,
entropy—the idea that everything tends toward disorder—and time may be related.
Time may be fixed, similar to space, and our experience of it is limited to the
direction of chaos. Everything that will ever happen has already occurred if
time is indeed fixed. Simply said, we haven’t encountered it yet.
